While on an expedition the scientist Gerald Robotnik discovered the ruins of the ancient echidna tribe on angel island. He learns of chaos energy and the emeralds, seeking to use them to cure his granddaughter's illness he begins work on project chaos. However, his research is deemed too dangerous and Gerald is arrested and later executed while his works are left on the island. 30 years later Dr. Ivo Robotnik launches his invasion and attacks Christmas Island. He is successful and decides to make the island the main base of his new Eggman Empire. Christmas island is renamed to Halloween Island and all locals that did not escape are enslaved or roboticized. The survivors of Eggman's attack escape to South Island and form a resistance group to take back their home. The resistance is led by Sonic the hedgehog, Mighty the armadillo, and Ray the flying squirrel. Sonic the hedgehog manages to make a name for himself thwarting robotniks plans and the resistance gains more members. Eggman isn't one to be defeated so easily though and after his death egg crashes on angel island the genius mad scientist makes a discovery that may be his key to defeating Sonic and the resistance. Happening behind the scenes ripples in reality are opening up with strange things or in some cases strange people falling out of them.
