News anchors reporting city and state-wide about the apparent death of the Joker. But is it real, or the world's biggest April Fools prank? While civilians party and celebrate, the heroes of Gotham alongside the GCPD are trying to figure out if the Clown Prince of Crime really /is/ dead, or if it's all just a ploy to make way for their impending doom.

Explosions are set off all across the city. A deadly gas is released into the air.

GOTHAM CITY IS LOST IN A CLOUD OF TOXIC GAS.

In the midst of chaos, a new problem arises. Thanks to Scarecrow and a few others, the city has been submerged in a cloud of toxic gas and is under a city-wide quarantine. The gas is thick, and the air doesn't seem to be clearing anytime soon. Citizens are advised to stay indoors unless absolutely necessary.

And Gotham has long been a city gripped by fear.

In late 2013, the powerful and revered Wayne family—an elite dynasty of Gotham—was brutally murdered in cold blood by an armed robber. Their young son, Bruce Wayne, was left orphaned, with only the loyal care of his butler, Alfred, to guide him. Detective James Gordon took on the case, uncovering a trail that led to infamous criminal Joe Chill and crime boss Salvatore Maroni. But in the corrupt courts of Gotham, justice was bought. The murderer walked free, his guilt swept under the rug by hush money.

Gordon, shunned for his pursuit of truth, left Gotham in disgrace, seeking refuge in Jump City. Meanwhile, Bruce, haunted by the trauma of his parents' deaths, withdrew, departing Gotham to 'study abroad' after his 17th birthday. Without them, the city plunged deeper into chaos, earning the grim nickname "The Chicago of the East."

Now, in the spring of 2024, both men have returned to Gotham, each transformed by time. Bruce Wayne, now the CEO of Wayne Enterprises, hides in plain sight, while Gordon has ascended to the role of Commissioner of the GCPD. But beneath the surface, rumors swirl of a shadowy vigilante—The Batman—stalking criminals in Gotham’s darkest corners.

Fear has always ruled Gotham. But this time, it’s a weapon. And who will wield it? Only time will tell…
